Dr. David Luskin
After earning his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Rochester, Dr. David Luskin has conducted complex microeconomics analyses as an academic, consultant, and public servant in Australia and the United States. With an overarching interest in policy-related analysis and modeling, he has researched issues in labor economics, international trade, housing markets, and urban and transportation economics. After returning to the United States, he concentrated on transportation economics with positions at the University of Texas at Austin, HDR Economics, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Since retiring from the federal government in 2020, he has been self-employed as President of his consulting company, Trenchant Economics. In his initial engagement in this capacity, he prepared a business plan for an indigenous-Australian venture in STEM education (illuminate FNQ). Subsequently, he developed a model for estimating the value to road users from the added ride comfort when pavement quality improves and presented the preliminary results at the 2022 annual conference of the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis.
